Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP II)

The Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP 2) is funded by the Government of Jamaica for JMD1.9Billion and will be implemented during the period April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2023.  The project which is being implemented by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF), aims to enhance access to basic urban infrastructure and social services and contribute towards increased community safety in selected economically vulnerable and socially volatile communities in Jamaica.

Clarendon: Treadlight
Kingston: Denham Town
St. Andrew: August Town, Greenwich Town
St. James: Anchovy, Norwood, Salt Spring 

The project components are as follows: 

COMPONENT 1 – IMPROVEMENT IN ACCESS TO BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE  

  • Rehabilitation of roads and storm water drainage 
  • Replacement of zinc fences with alternative fencing 
  • Installation of water supply systems and household connections 
  • Public education and Social Marketing – to support behavior change related to regularization of water supply, sanitation, formalization of electrical connections and solid waste management 
  • Rehabilitation of primary schools 
  • Construction/Rehabilitation of parks and green spaces; Solid Waste Management – clean up and beautification of community communal spaces, provision of equipment for solid waste collection (skips, drums etc.), infrastructure, training of environmental wardens who will work with community residents to ensure the proper storage and disposal of solid waste 
  • Training of community groups to maintain infrastructure provided and how to manage facilities 
  • Safe Passages – upgrading of specific routes to and from schools utilized by students to include street signs, pedestrian crossings, lay-by, sidewalk upgrading, murals depicting how to move through the area safely, rehabilitation of vending areas that are on sidewalks, public education

 COMPONENT 2: IMPROVEMENT IN ACCESS TO SOCIAL SERVICES  

  • Youth skills training and apprenticeship 
  • Development of Community Enterprises through training, capacity building and provision of equipment 
  • Provision of Civil documentation -birth certificates and TRN 
  • Peace building 
  • Capacity building of community-based organizations 
  • Parenting training 
  • Sports 
  • Summer Camps
