Department for International Development

The Department for International Development (DFID) manages Britain's aid to poor countries and works to eradicate extreme poverty within these countries.

In May 1997, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, through DFID, made available to the GoJ a grant of US$0.75m to supply institutional support to the JSIF. This grant was used to pay for the services of a Participation Advisor and other support that strengthened the JSIF’s capacity to encourage community development in beneficiary communities, trained JSIF officers in participation methodologies and improved the JSIF's ability to implement organizational strengthening projects and initiatives.

The funding agreement ended on December 31, 2007
