The Ministry of Water and Housing is mandated to provide the island with an adequate supply and suitable quality of water for domestic, commercial and agricultural purposes. It is also to facilitate the provision of affordable housing solutions and security of tenure within the framework of the National Shelter Sector Strategy (1987).
The JSIF and the Ministry of Water and Housing are to sign an Memorandum of Understanding regarding land regularization pilot in Flankers and Bucknor. This agreement was reached in 2006.
The relationship between the Fund and the Ministry is an ongoing one as they collaborate in other projects as the need arises. Also, technical assistance is provided to the Fund by the Ministry on specific projects.
Under the Hurricane Dean Emergency Recovery Loan Agreement a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the JSIF and the Ministry of Water and Housing for the implementation of activities to be funded by this Loan Agreement.
