handover of Sanitization Block and Sanitization Items to Hall's Delight and Westphalia Schools

The ceremony to hand over the  School Sanitation Blocks & COVID-19 Response Supplies to Hall’s Delight and Westphalia Primary   Schools will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 1:00 pm, at the Hall's Delight Methodist Church in East Rural St. Andrew.The Government of Jamaica through its JSIF implementing School Sanitation Project has improved sanitation in 75 schools across the island. On June 10th, the sanitation block of 2 of these schools in rural St. Andrew will be handed over. Under the project:

  • Pit latrines were replaced with 5-seater sanitation blocks at both schools.
  • Construction of sewage treatment system to include septic tanks, reedbed, chlorination chamber and soak-away pit. 
  • Provision of Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) training for students, teachers, and parents.
  • Provision of COVID-19 response items to include Tablets for 11 students
  • hand sanitization stations, non-contact infrared thermometers, waste bins, mop buckets, hand sanitizers, and antibacterial soap were also provided for the schools. 

The cost for the overall project implemented in 75 schools is 50 million JMD. 25 million of this has been spent on Hall’s Delight and Westphalia Primary schools.
