Emcees Denise Isis Miller and Sydney Bartley introduces the Kingston College choir |

There was definitely magic in the air at the Festival of Drums and Voices, as the CPTC ended its 25th anniversary year celebrations on a high note. The festival which took the form of a free concert showcased some of the best in drumming and voices and was also CPTC's way of saying thanks to the Jamaican people for their support. Those who were not at the celebration missed a night of fabulous performances headlined by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund's Inner City Basic Services Project Federal Gardens Cultural performers as well as Jamaica's foremost drumming groups- L'ACADCO, Mystic Revelations among many others.
The audience was also inspired by the performance of the 2008 “All Together Sing” champion choir, Vauxhall High School, which had the audience applauding for more. Even the Chinese presence was felt in the form of the Weing Long Kung Fu group, who put on a spectacular exhibition .The Charles Town Maroons displayed our rich African heritage by putting on a fascinating presentation which had the audience completely engaged. Also there for the drumming spectacular, were the Bobo Shanti Band and the very energetic Inswood High Drummers who went off play momentarily to connect with the spectators. The night's performances peaked with an exhilarating, celebratory dance by the L'Acadco Dancers. Emcees for the night were Denise 'Isis' Miller and Sydney Bartley who were both very entertaining. 'Tis the season to be jolly and to be filled with renewed hope, and that was exactly the crowd's reaction after the event had ended. The Festival of Drums and Voices was held at Emancipation Park, in New Kingston on Thursday, December 17, 2009. |
