Ajax is located in the Durham Region of Ontario, Canada. The Town of Ajax serves the population of Ajax, providing a full range of municipal services of city quality in a mid-sized town setting. These services include:

Ajax is the first municipality in Ontario and one of the first in North America to be certified to the ISO 9001 quality standard established by the International Organization for Standardization in Switzerland. The Town of Ajax began its service delivery focus in 1994 with the initiation of an employee suggestion program called STAR$ (Saving Town of Ajax Real Dollar$). During the program every employee was challenged to come up with ways to reduce costs without cutting service or laying off staff. The result was a cost saving of $1.5 million. In 1996 the decision was made to further strengthen the organization and the Town’s proactive approach to doing business by introducing ISO 9001 as a quality system. This culminated in the achievement and maintenance of certification from 1997.
There is a signed mentorship agreement between the Town of AJAX and JSIF.
