News Detail

While electricity provider Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) and the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) busied themselves Thursday to expose residents of Greenwich Town and surrounding communities in south-west St Andrew to career advancement programmes through a career expo, several residents expressed the view that the effort could be futile because of the long-standing stigma of their Kingston 7 address. The expo was staged at the community centre in Caribbean Palms, a housing development on Spanish Town Road that was built under the People’s National Party’s Inner-city Housing Project. It allowed residents to register for skills training programmes with HEART Trust/NTA and create and submit resumes to companies and groups as JPS, JSIF and the National Youth Service.
