The Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP), launched last week in Maxfield Park and Rose Town in Kingston, will tackle community development in a way which is different from previous approaches, managing director-designate of the Jamaica Social Investment Fund, Omar Sweeney, stated.
Under the heading of infrastructure, the ICDP will deal with road rehabilitation; improving storm water drainage; and installing water supply and sanitation household connections. The project will also provide a range of social services interventions, including after-school educational and recreation projects; minor rehabilitation to school infrastructure; provision of birth certificates; mentorship, employment and skill-training opportunities for youth through partnerships with numerous entities, including HEART Trust/NTA, NSWMA, and private-sector companies; and support to vulnerable students and their parents.According to Sweeney, the ICDP is comprehensive in its approach.
