The roll-out of the Integrated Community Development Programme (ICDP) in Steer Town, St Ann, and Barrett Town, St James, will see dozens of youngsters introduced to entrepreneurship and trained in various market-driven skills. The project, which will run to May 2020, is financed by the World Bank for implementation in 18 communities islandwide and is aimed at a sustainable improvement of the quality of life of residents in each area.
The Jamaica Social Investment fund (JSIF) will be coordinating the multi-agency intervention.
For young people, services to be provided include education and skills-training programmes in the creative industries - animation, entertainment and the arts, hospitality, construction - complemented by the provision of civil registration documents and job-readiness services.
