The Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) invites the submission of applications for grant funding proposals for summer camps under the Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP). PROGRAMMATIC AREAS - Camps must include a structured and varied programme that is activity-based, with exposure to new environments and a focus on one or more of the following: 

  • Environmental Management – beautification of surroundings, establishment of parks and green spaces in public areas and schools, public education on environmental issues.
  • Vocational Skills Training – market driven skills delivered in collaboration with HEART/NTA and other providers of accredited courses.
  • Sports – including skills training for umpires, coaches,
  • Sexual Reproductive Health and/or Family Life Education
  • Youth in Agriculture - JAS, 4H clubs, youth farmers
  • Arts and Entertainment
  • Math, Science, Technology and Engineering
  • Remedial Education and Skills Training – including ASTEP, CAP

 All camps must include a behavior modification component – life skills training, counseling, mentorship, anger management training, conflict and mediation, violence prevention services.  COMMUNITIES  Camps MUST target beneficiaries within the following parishes and communities:

  • Kingston & St. Andrew – Majesty Gardens, Greenwich Town, Tivoli Gardens, Hannah Town, Denham Town, Rose Town, Rema, Maxfield Park
  • St. Catherine  - Ellerslie Pen (Spanish Town)
  • Clarendon – York Town, Treadlight, Canaan Heights/Curatoe Hill,
  • St. Ann – Steer Town
  • St. James – Anchovy, Granville, Retirement, Barrett Town 
  • Westmoreland – Russia

 SPONSOR GROUPSThe Sponsors must be, or must be partnering with, a legally registered Community Based Organization (CBO), Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Faith Based Organization, Benevolent or Friendly Society, Service Club or Corporation. The proposals must be for camps that satisfy these requirements: CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

  • Targeting children ages 6 – 17 years old
  • Benefiting young adults between the  ages of 15 -24 years
  • Admission policy must not be based on religion, skin colour, ethnicity or political affiliation.
  • Proposals should be in response to a clear demand and must show measurable results for success and impact.
  • Evidence of partnerships with other organizations and associations is desirable but not mandatory.

 FUNDING  

  • Communities/Sponsors must contribute at least 10% of the total cost of the camp (in cash or kind).
  • JSIF will provide funding of no more than JMD1,500,000.00 per camp.
  • Implementation period is between July and August 2015.

 All proposals must meet these conditions for eligibility and only those applications, which meet the criteria, will be considered for processing. Applications accepted for processing does not guarantee funding approval. The JSIF reserves the right to reject any application received. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in information sessions at dates and times to be announced. APPLICATION DEADLINE  Application forms and proposal guidelines can be collected at our address below or on the JSIF website www.jsif.org. All proposals MUST be submitted in envelopes clearly marked “ICDP Summer Camps 2015” .  
Faxed or emailed proposals will NOT be accepted.
Applications must be delivered to the address below on or before 12 noon on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.
