Contractors and Consultants Seminar
"Building Community through Partnership" was the theme of the Contractors and Consultants Seminar held at the Mona Visitors Lodge on June 4, 2008. The Seminar was hosted by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) in collaboration with the Incorporated Masterbuilders Association of Jamaica. The purpose – was to encourage networking between these two organisations and important stakeholder's such as contractors.
The seminar also sought to provide basic information as to the projects that JSIF is implementing at this time. These projects are the Inner City Basic Services Project (ICBSP) and the Emergency Recovery Project (ERP) formerly known as the Hurricane Dean Emergency Recovery Loan (HDERL). This was part of an ongoing effort to attract and target qualified persons to bid on projects.
Informative presentations were made by members of JSIF’s staff and other organisations such as the Office of the Contractors General. Topics covered included:
The Procurement Cycle
The Importance of the Environment in Construction
Contrsuctibility Issues – Case Studies
Contract Interpretation
Resources
The Government of Jamaica Procurement Procedures Handbook
