Basic Infrastructure

INTEGRATED NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE

 

Roads

Approximately 730m (½ mile) of road rehabilitation and re-surfacing will be undertaken (assuming a road pavement width of 6.0m). Added to this, minor implementation of traffic calming devices and kerb construction are proposed. Under the canopy approximately 5400m3 of earth fill or a total of 440 no. NSWMA Tipper trucks will be utilised to assist in road reconstruction and land reclamation.

 

Street lighting & household connection

New streetlights will replace dysfunctional ones as agreed with the Parish Council. The Project will work with the Rural Electrification Programme (REP) and the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPSCo) to encourage householders to regularize illegal electricity connections

 

Storm Water Management

JSIF will undertake localised repairs and some new construction to approximately 700m (little less than ½ mile) of concrete drain pipe storm water management fixture. The varying drain sizes are 600 x 600 and 1500 x 600.

 

Solid Waste

JISF will procure for use by the NSWMA or local service providers that have entered into service contracts with NSWMA, a compactor truck to operate waste collection systems in St. Catherine including Lauriston. Twenty- Seven (27) garbage receptacles will be installed at strategic locations within the community as agreed with the NSWMA and the community.

 

Neighbourhood Improvement

Under the beautification programme improvements to or creation of green spaces as agreed with the community. It is also proposed to remove and replace zinc fences with block wall. The issue of zinc removal is a sensitive one and will require the full cooperation of the community to realize success.

 

Multi-Purpose Building

Approximately 770m2 (8,000ft2) of multipurpose building is proposed for erection at a location already pre-determined community.
