Knollis is a part of the town of Bog Walk, selected as part of the ICBSP. Knollis lies to the east of the north coast main highway, south west of the health centre and north west of the Rio Cobre. A disused railway line runs along the western boundary.

These communities are contiguous. Each community is examined separately with respect to the social and safety interventions it requires.

Knollis is somewhat different from other communities in ICBSP; it is not a homogeneous self-contained area that can be demarcated by a boundary as it consists of a number of pockets of sub-standard, under-serviced housing within an area that is generally flat and rural in nature. There is a relatively affluent housing project in Knollis which is excluded from the project area.

The wooden houses are in a very poor condition, some with rotting wood. However, residents plant flowers to beautify their homes and have strong sense of personal pride. There are also strong elements of community solidarity.

The main problem, as in the other communities, is high unemployment, especially for the young and unskilled. There is occasional work available on a banana estate, but otherwise it is a matter of vending in Bog Walk and similar non-formal sector jobs.
