Basic Infrastructure

INTEGRATED NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE

 

Roads

Approximately 1000m (more than ½ mile) of road rehabilitation and re-surfacing will be carried out in Knollis (assuming a road pavement width of 6.0m). Added to this minor implementation of traffic calming devices and kerb construction are also proposed.

 

Street lighting & household connection

New streetlights will replace dysfunctional ones as agreed with the Parish Council. The Project will work with the Rural Electrification Programme (REP) and the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPSCo) to encourage householders to regularize illegal electricity connections

 

Water

Approximately 750m (less than ½ mile) of 100-diameter new water main pipe will be laid in a trench to supply the community. The project will also facilitate the households connections inclusive of bends and 19mm (3/4'') diameter pipes.

 

Storm Water Management

JSIF propose to construct 1400m (more than ¾ mile) of concrete drain pipe and other storm water management fixture. The varying drain sizes are 600 x 600, 1500 x 600 open channel and box

 

Neighbourhood Improvement

Under the beautification programme improvements to or creation of green spaces as agreed with the community. It is also proposed to remove and replace zinc fences with block wall. The issue of zinc removal is a sensitive one and will require the full cooperation of the community to realize success.

 

Multi-Purpose Building

A multipurpose building of approximately 770m2 (8,000ft2) is proposed for erection at a location already pre-determined by the community.
