On September 3, 2009 the International Bank for Development and Reconstruction
(the World Bank) approved a US$15,000,000.00 loan to the Government of Jamaica
to finance the Implementation Phase of the Rural Economic Development Initiative
(R.E.D.I). The Project
will be implemented over six (6) years
and will target eight (8) rural parishes initially. These parishes are:
Clarendon, Manchester, St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Hanover, St. James, Trelawny
and St. Ann as well as the Blue and John Crow Mountain region.
