Integrated Network Infrastructure

 

Roads

Approximately 3600m (2.2 miles) of road reinstatement will be carried out (using a pavement width of 1.2m).

 

Street lighting and household connection

New streetlights will replace dysfunctional ones as agreed with the Parish Councils. The Project will work with the Rural Electrification programme (REP) and the Jamaica Public Service Company to encourage householders to regularize illegal electricity connections.

 

Water

A new trunk water main from the Trench Town steel tank reservoir to Jones Town will assist in augmenting the water pressure. Approximately 3000m (2 miles) of existing distribution pipes of varying sizes are to be replaced. Water enhancements such as hydrants and valves will be placed strategically along the new line.

 

Sewage Treatment and Sanitation

This consists of clearing blocked sewer pipes, effecting minor repairs and flushing the existing sewer system.

 

Neighbourhood Improvement

Under the beautification programme improvement to or creation of green spaces as agreed with the community. It is also proposed to remove and replace zinc fences with block wall. The issue of zinc removal is a sensitive one and will require the cooperation of the community to realize success.
