The Whitfield Town Zinc Fence Removal which began in August 2008 is aimed at enhancing public safety and the aesthetic appeal of the community. It involves the removal of 7,226 metres of selected zinc fences in the community and replacing them with concrete structures. Below is a table highlighting the roads, length of zinc fences that will be removed and replaced with concrete walls on each road as well as the completion to date.

The ICBSP project is aimed at enhancing the lives of residents living in 12 targeted inner city communities in the parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon and St. James. It is being funded by the World Bank to the tune of US$29.3 million with counterpart funding of US$3.5 by the Government of Jamaica (GOJ). It is slated for completion in 2011.
