Getting Mentors the Skills that they Need

Mentors go through a screening process prior to being invited to training sessions. They are then trained over two Saturdays covering topics that are fundamental to the establishment of mentoring relationships such as Mentoring, Understanding the Adolescent’ Goal-Setting and ‘Communicating with Adolescents.’ The training sessions are very interactive in order to unearth communication and empathy skills required for success in the programme.

To date 141 mentors have been trained with one last training session to come. This session will be focused primarily on males to ensure the ratio of 70% males required by the programme is met.
