One Satisfied Mentee

Rushane Monroe - a satisfied mentee

 Rushane Munroe, a satisfied mentee

Rushane Munroe, lost his father at a tender age . His concerned mother struggled to raise him as a single parent. When the mentoring programme was introduced in the March Pen community both Rushane and his mother were elated at the prospect of him getting a mentor. Finally, he was to have the much desired male influence in his life.

Without losing traction, Rushane became one of the first twenty-five mentees and was incorporated in the promotional campaign for the programme. His image, along with others, was used as a part of the faces in the commercials for both the print and electronic media. Both mother and son became so thrilled about Rushane’s picture being in the newspaper that each time it was published they would cut out the advertisements.

The day came for Rushane to meet his mentor. He met Pastor Glenworth Walters and immediately they connected. He called the Community Liaison Officer to share his excitement of being paired with a pastor instead of the chef he originally requested.
