Integrated Network Infrastructure

 

Roads

Approximately 370.0m (1220ft.) of road rehabilitation and re-surfacing will be undertaken (assuming a road pavement width of 6.0m). Added to this, minor implementation of sleeping policemen is proposed.

 

Street lighting and household connection

New streetlights will replace dysfunctional ones as agreed with the Parish Councils. The Project will work with the Rural Electrification programme (REP) and the Jamaica Public Service Company to encourage householders to regularize illegal electricity connections.

 

Water

A new trunk water main from the Trench Town steel tank reservoir to Jones Town will assist in augmenting the water pressure. Approximately 1885m (1.2 miles) of existing distribution pipes are to be replaced. Water enhancements such as hydrants and valves will be placed strategically along the new line.

 

Sewage Treatment and Sanitation

There is proposed for this project construction of 32 no. 4.13m x 2.5m x 3.0m high sanitary cores. JSIF proposes to lay approx 540m (1/3 mile) of sewer pipes of varying diameter.

 

Solid Waste

JISF will procure for use by the NSWMA or local service providers that have entered into service contracts with NSWMA, compactor trucks to operate waste collection systems in Kingston and St. Andrew including Federal Gardens. Twenty-Seven (27) garbage receptacles will be installed at strategic locations within the community as agreed with the NSWMA and the community.

 

Neighbourhood Improvement

Under the beautification programme improvement to or creation of green spaces as agreed with the community. It is also proposed to remove and replace zinc fences with block wall. The issue of zinc removal is a sensitive one and will require the cooperation of the community to realize success.
