Summer Camp Information
Camp Objectives:
For 100 students to interact and learn positive values through academic, sports and the performing arts for three weeks.
Activities Completed:
Field Visit
A Field visit was done on August 10, 2006, the children were observed in their different groups doing assigned activities in music classes, vocal skills and art classes. Students were meaningfully engaged.
The spirit of camaraderie was high as students were seen sharing in addition to, working together to complete activities. Informal interviews were done with children and teachers who shared the view that the camp was having a major impact on the children as they were taken from the streets and were being entertained in harmonious living. The Community Liaison (CLO) informed that the field trip was very refreshing and the children were hesitant to leave as they were enjoying themselves.
The trip to Wynters Parks and payment of stipend resonated well in the community and all the beneficiaries are now asking when the next intervention will take place.
The buzzword on the lips of parents and children is 'when'!
