Solid Waste Collection Schedule

It is proposed that a twice-weekly house-to-house solid waste collection plan be implemented by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA). The standard compactor trucks and smaller sized trucks are to be used. The smaller trucks will facilitate collection along the lanes. Persons living along the footpaths should be informed of the collection schedule so that they can bring out their solid waste to the nearest collection point.

Street Lighting

This shall be provided on all roads, lanes and footpaths in accordance with JPSCo standards. The street lights form part of the community safety plans. Due to the illegal connections in some parts of the communities, there are electrical cables hanging low or lying on the ground in some areas. This is considered dangerous and should be rectified. This matter would be addressed by the Jamaica Public Service Company's (JPSCo’s) current Community Electrification Programme.
